2010-2011 Center for the Study of Presidency and Congress Presidential Fellows Program
APPLICATION DEADLINE EXTENDED TO FRIDAY, APRIL 2nd
UCLA appoints one UCLA student as a Presidential Fellow each year through the UCLA Center for American Politics and Public Policy. The Washington, DC-based Center for the Study of the Presidency and Congress Presidential Fellows program offers students of the executive branch of the U.S. government the opportunity to:
• Develop, under the guidance of a faculty mentor, a research paper on a topic related to the United States presidency and the executive branch of U.S government. Outstanding papers are published in the Presidential Studies Quarterly, an annual anthology of Fellows’ work;
• Attend two conferences in Washington, DC during the fellowship year at which Fellows participate in policy workshops with scholars, senior government officials, and nationally-recognized policy experts. Travel and accommodation expenses are covered by UCLA and the CSPC.

Eligibility:
Students must be enrolled full-time in an undergraduate or graduate program at UCLA during their fellowship year.
Application requirements:
1) Cover letter describing applicant’s proposed research paper question and any relevant experience or qualifications; the letter should be addressed to Professor Joel D. Aberbach, director of the UCLA Center for American Politics and Public Policy (CAPPP);
2) Unofficial UCLA transcript;
3) One letter of recommendation from a UCLA professor. Letter must be sealed in an envelope and signed by the recommender across the seal.
