Summer Sessions offered by the Institute for Humane Studies

The March 31 application deadline for the free, weeklong summer seminars hosted by the Institute for Humane Studies is approaching. Ideal for students looking for opportunities for intellectual or career development this summer or who want to enhance their internships with additional career advice and networking, these seminars offer the opportunity to engage in thoughtful conversations this summer and explore current issues from many perspectives.

Below are three of our 11 seminars that may be of interest:

Liberty & Current Issues, July 18-24, Trinity University, Washington, DC
Participants spend a week learning about the politics that shape policy. Topics covered include economic policy, small business regulation, campaign finance reform, and individual rights. This seminar is ideal for students considering careers in public policy.

Exploring Liberty, June 13-19, Yale University, New Haven, CT
Perfect for rising sophomores and juniors, this seminar focuses on the historical, economic, and philosophical foundations of a free society.

Social Change Workshop, June 13-19, Brown University, Providence, RI
An interdisciplinary workshop for graduate students. The theme of this year’s workshop is Institutions, Behavior, and Development. Throughout the week participants and lecturers will be asking both descriptive and normative questions about the relationship between knowledge, decision-making, and social, political, and economic institutions.

Participation in the workshop and seminars, including housing and meals for the weekend seminars, is free. Details about the dates and locations of all 11 seminars are available at www.TheIHS.org/seminar. The application is short and the deadline to apply is March 31, less than a week from now! Please encourage your students to submit an application.
