The James Hooper Scholarship 2008
The Los Angeles Chapter of Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) is excited to provide the opportunity for students enrolled at a college or university in Southern California to receive the James Hooper Scholarship for 2009.
Advantage for Scholars
- Up to four (4) full scholarship grants will be awarded. The evaluation committee may decide to award fewer full scholarships and/or to award partial scholarships, as honorable mention awards, at their discretion.
- Each full scholarship award includes a monetary grant of up to $1000.
- Candidates who apply for the James Hooper Scholarship will receive priority consideration in the local LA IIA Internship Program in 2009. This internship program is designed to match eligible interested students with local businesses that are offering Internal Audit internships during the summer months. Details are published on the IIA website at www.theiia-la.org.
Eligibility Requirements
- Full-time undergraduate student at a college or university in Southern California.
- Graduating no sooner than the end of the spring semester/quarter in 2010.
- Enrolled in the spring 2009 semester/quarter in accounting, auditing, business or another course of study that is supportive of a career in Internal Auditing.
- Cumulative minimum GPA of 3.00. Students are responsible for providing official transcripts.
- Active involvement in extracurricular activities (e.g., work, leadership in student organizations/affiliations, community service and volunteer organizations, sports programs, ROTC, etc.).
Timeline
January 30, 2009 – Completed application and attachments must be received by this date.
March 11th, 2009 – Formal Award of Scholarships to winners at the LA Chapter Luncheon.
March 12th, 2009 – Results are announced via the website.
